postcard from Nashville

We’re long overdue for a girlfriend’s trip! We were looking for somewhere we haven’t been and Nashville came up in our discussion so Nashville it is! We met up at LaGuardia after work on a Friday and boarded our 8PM flight to Nashville. I haven’t flown out of LaGuardia on a clear night in a while and managed to get shots of the beautiful NYC!

It was raining when we got to Nashville (and it would continue to rain for majority of the weekend), and we took an Uber to our airbnb. Our driver was super nice and gave us great recommendations and drove us down Broadway for a first taste of the city.

We know Saturday would be a very rainy day so all our activities were indoors. We started with coffee at Fido in the Hillsboro Village, and stumbled upon the Donald Robertson mural that was just painted back in December.

We also checked out some cute stores in the neighborhood! This one’s got an atrium!

After Hillsboro Village, we headed to the Country Music Hall of Fame.

On the ground floor of the museum is a print shop for the famed Nashville prints.

Lunch was at Peg Leg Porker, a barbecue spot multiple uber drivers recommended, and it did not disappoint! We got the dry rub ribs and pulled pork, as well as a bunch of sides to share.

After the lunch the rain let up a little and we walked to the murals in the Gulch neighborhood. My friends took some great photos!

On the breezes of the sky,
And you ask "What if I fall?"
Oh but my darling,
What if you fly?”

Oh wait there’s another mural!

And then another from the 12 South area.

We got lucky with the weather because as soon as we were done with the murals it started pouring again! We walked to get some donuts at Five Daughters Bakery, and then more food from Hattie B’s Hot Chicken. (Yes if you can’t tell by now this is a foodie trip and of course we had to try some Hattie B’s).

We got tickets for a show at the Grand Ole Opry before our late dinner and it was so worth it! They had different artists and it was really cool that they air it live on radio as well. We had to leave a little earlier as we have dinner reservations but did make sure to stop by the gift shop to get myself a postcard.

Dinner at Etch was amazing - we had the housemade bread and butter, cauliflower, octopus and shrimp bruschetta, and the lamp loin. It was a delicious meal! Post dinner we headed over to Broadway to check out the bars - Tootsies was very crowded but the rooftop was cool to check out. After hitting a few other places we walked down the block to Acme Feed & Seed, which was definitely more like our vibe. The ground floor was very chill and had a live band playing, and I think it was also aired live!

Our final day in Nashville and we finally got nice weather! We stopped by the Hermitage Hotel, and then over to Broadway in the daytime. We got coffee at a bar that had live music and I wrote my postcard from there!

We walked over to the bridge and then to Pinewood Social for brunch. The wait would have been an hour but we found ourselves seats at the bar. The restaurant is a bowling alley as well but we didn’t get to show off our skills… :) Maybe next time!
