Reykjavik

postcard from Reykjavik

My friend Sam picked the best location for a bachelorette. And the roadtrip begins.

One of the surprising thing about traveling to Iceland in the summer is that you get all the sunlight you would ever want. Sunset is officially at around midnight and sunrise is around 3AM, and even during those 3 hours it looks more like dusk the whole time. Bring your eye mask with you if you're ever there in the summer!

Day 2 starts off with a full day of activities, first with a drive to Seljalandsfoss in the south region of Iceland. The cool thing about this waterfall is that you can walk behind it and get a nice shower.

30 minutes away is another waterfall called Skógafoss.

Glacier hike and ice climbing at Sólheimajökull with Hendrick and Stephanie. All geared up with our crampons and ice axes!

Dyrhólaey, a small peninsula on the south coast of Iceland.

Reynisfjara - Black Sand Beach.

Day 3 starts off with the Golden Circle, at Thingvellir National Park. This national park is actually where the parliament used to be in the 10th to 18th century, and it sits in a rift valley that's formed by the separation of 2 tectonic plates.

Lunch and ice cream at Efstidalur II.

After lunch we headed for the Geysir.

Friðheimar for an afternoon snack and drink. Their healthy bloody mary made with green tomato juice is delicious!

Gullfoss - one of the only waterfalls in Iceland I can actually pronounce the name of.

Skálholt Cathedral. We arrived just when the weather was clearing up and the sun was out in 5 mins!

Ten thousand flowers in spring, the moon in autumn, a cool breeze in summer, snow in winter. If your mind isn’t clouded by unnecessary things, this is the best season of your life.

Kerið Crater. a volcanic crater lake.

Day 4 starts off with some horseback riding! *Most photos taken on an iPhone.

Then to the Blue Lagoon (sorry, no photos inside since the camera isn't waterproof).
